"Nude 2020" by Denise K. Castellucci. Graphite and charcoal.
If I was completely honest, I have been in a deep funk for last 5 years because of living in a land that voted for the worst person. I absorbed all the toxins, fear, and heartache. Was it merely 5 years? Did I even have a time between losing my birth parents in 2014 and my adoptive dad in 2015?
There were times of joy and creativity but I would always feel guilty because those times required to unplug from the world. So how can I unplug and then plug back into the world in a healthier, more intentional way? This blog and website is a way that I can engage and be present online without being consumed with all the toxins that come with social media.
This website is also here to motivate myself to create more art, prose, and collect memories. Instead of getting lost in social media streams, my work is going to be in a more static, permanent location after three years of trying to get this blog off the ground.
Here is a nude I created with graphite and charcoal during the pandemic. I became quite pleased with how it turned out that I framed it and put it up on the studio wall.
